Re: Luqada Mayga

by maay answer

you know i was surprised that you were a born somali and did not know the linguistic differences of the dialects spoken in the sourthern side of somalia. nevertheless, your question was a very important one as it maybe. from what i know maay is a broad language, however, just as english is universal but the irish and scots who are british have their own dialects, so are the different tribes who live in maay region. moreover, the mahaatiri people overall speak the same language, however, there are many variations, for example, the issaq would undoubtedly be different in pronounciation and sentence formation (grammar) from abgal. therefore, the different maay tribes have differnt maay dialects. you are right, boron, gare and other tribes speak different maay because they have migrated from ethopia and kenya along time ago and they brought their own language and cultural practices with them. i am maay and i have been in diinsoor, a dabare place, and i did not understand a word they said, i had to get an interpreter!

if i did not explain it enough, please seek further explanation from others who know maay people and language. thank you for having the courage to search for a very important answer, as 'god created us in tribes so we may know one another'
