Welcome to the forum and congratulations on receiving your grandfathers Model 80.You are a lucky man. To be honest your chances of finding a rear sight for your Model 80 are remote. I am told that from time to time they appear on auction sites but are never cheap. Because they can be removed easily they also get lost easily. There must be a lot of Model 80s out there without sights. Don’t give up. Keep looking. In the mean time I would consider putting a telescopic sight on your rifle. Take your rifle to a good gunsmith and ask them to find a mount that will fit the non standard size of the sight rails on your rifle. Various models have a degree of adjustment that will allow a firm fit. Once you have the mount (or mounts) you can select a scope.
We would love some pictures of your Falke including one of the serial number on the loading tap.

Sory for the missunderstanding my english is not so good , i still have the original rear sites but i am wondering how does the distance work with the 1-6 on the level up and down ,,, how far is six and 3 and so on. One of my aunts Father is a very trust worthy gunsmith whom is busy putting in a new spring so i dont have the rifle now with me but wil send you some pics on weekend..

Hello Heinrich

I'm sorry but I don't know what the rear sight elevation increments mean in terms of the point of impact at different distances. I'd be interested to know though, when you work it out...!

Thanks for the offer of pics when the rifle is finished. I look forward to seeing them. If possible please photograph the serial number on the loading tap.

Sight scales on air rifles

July 18 2012, 2:10 AM

Hi Heinrich
The point of impact will always differ on an air rifle with the different weight of pellets and the efficiency of the spring and washers. As a result the elevation scale on the Falke sight can only be a guide to a sight setting at variable ranges. On military rifles were ammunition is standerdised the range graduations on the sights can be far more accurate as the ammunition is consistent. Windage is another matter. Point of impact deviation to the left or right should be consistent per the sight graduation. I.E. one cm at 10 meters per one click or two cm at 10 meters with two clicks. Change the range and the deviation per click changes.
Once set I don’t fiddle with open sights. Sight the rifle in at the average range you intend to use it with the brand of pellet you intend to use on a calm day. From then on shoot high or low according to range changes and left or right to compensate for the wind. By all means wined the sight up or down to see where it hits but always have a default setting that you can return to at the end of the day so you will know where it is hitting when you pick it up next.
