It's not a fake, but currently it is in pieces. I mocked it up for the photo and only later realized that I'd got the dial misaligned.

The 0-9 minute disk (driven by the cannon pinion) must be within reach of the setting mechanism. it in turn drives the 00-50 disk, which drives the 1-12 hour disk. So that is why these late 19th century jump-hour/jump-minute watches always have the crown at the '3 o'clock' position.
