The Taiwanese GPS maker known as MainNav that previously introduced the MG-920 Bluetooth GPS receiver with an FM transmitter, has now come with one more attention-grabbing GPS product, a GPS watch with optional Bluetooth.

The watch is touted to be kinda huge with the size of 69 x 55 x 28mm. No knowledge of its weight, however, the GPS watch, with an interesting concept, can also be used like a bluetooth GPS receiver.

Check out some more features of GPS watch:

(1) Built-in with the high sensitivity SiRF Star III LP chip to track the wearer’s location.
(2) Waterproof as expected for most systems that are mainly for outdoors use and is
(3) A digital heart rate, speed and distance and a temperature sensor.
(4) Equipped with a Li-ion 400mAh battery.

I worked on a prototype of a watch like this 10 years ago.
It had GPS, Bluetooth, a pager, a camera and monitoring for heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature.

The watch was being developed for the military...alas, the whole thing came to a screeching halt when the 4 top guys in the company assigned themselves millions of shares in the parent company then closed down the operations, throwing me and 227 others out on the street.
The ECC eventually caught up with 3 of them but the 4th guy, a Brit, disappeared.

Ten years ago, our prototype case was only marginally bigger than this one. My job was to put all the electronics on a couple of printed circuit boards and fit it all inside the case :-O I did manage to squeeze everything in the space available and we were testing the Bluetooth radio when they closed the doors sad.gif
