Happy New Year ...

I have been having issues with a watch that has an ETA 2893-2 movement. Hopefully I can explain the problem without too much confusion and my lack of any watch technical knowledge ...

1. this is an intermittent problem (movement is fully wound)

2. when holding the watch straight up (12 o'clock) and down, this happens:

. 12 position - the seconds hand will "drop forward" quickly to the 5 minute
mark and then continue with it's normal rhythm
. 6 position - once the seconds hand gets to the 35 minute mark, it will
hesitate for a split second and "drop back" towards the 30 minute mark
and then continue with it's normal rhythm

The watch has been sent back to the company twice under warranty. Before I send it back for a third time, I was hoping the experts may chime in with some suggestions ... ie. Peter or Al happy.gif

As I said, this is out of my field of knowledge and I have no clue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

John

This sounds like one of two possible problems that my...

limited experience might point to.
1. the canon pinion is loose and needs tightening
2. there is one or more teeth missing from the seconds wheel or the gear it meshes with

Al will undoubtedly have a better feel for what's going on happy.gif
