This is the dial that came on my 6309-7290 project...

And this is what it looks like after a thorough scrubbing...

Sure, some of the original paint is gone but so is the really bad relume mess that someone attempted.
The dial is obviously AM since it has no bevel of any kind on the day date window and it's made of aluminum or some soft silvery metal like that.

The thing is that it is almost presentable now wink.gif

This new AM dial is incoming and if I can 'age' the bright green lume, it should look a lot better...

If not; I may just use the old one happy.gif

How did you clean the dial Peter?

I'm always very reluctant to have a go at cleaning dials, so any advice is very welcome,

Stephen

Stephen, I wouldn't recommend what I did...

because it could well destroy a good dial. This one was a badly messed up AM one so I didn't care what happened.

Basically, I took to it with a toothbrush and some 'Silvo' silver polish. I just kept brushing and adding polish until all the added/spread around crud looked like it was gone.

The process removed the bad stuff and a little of the good stuff.

I wouldn't try this on a real dial because the risk of rubbing everything off is really good sad.gif
