Wilnis 4
Stewart 43
Johnson 58
WILNIS (4) A laughably poor right footed curling shot was generously punched into the net by Simon Brown, who remained a figure of shining goodwill throughout the contest.
STEWART (43) A hopeful drive from an impossibly acute angle forced Brown into performing some impressively intricate acrobatics to avoid it. Despite receiving rapturous applause from the Ipswich support for this astounding feat of agility, he appeared to be strangely disappointed and kicked the turf in disgust.
JOHNSON (58) A terrible header which Brown did fantastically well to miss.
Despite being matched against Colchester reject centre-backs Wayne Brown and Titus Bramble (or so I like to think), the centre forwards Lua-Lua and McGavin struck up a partnership which was ominously reminiscent of Mark Sale and Pie Eater Jnr., Neil Gregory.
Following the failure to gain the go-ahead for a new ground, Lua-Lua and Pie Eater Snr. in particular seemed determined to gain revenge by destroying the housing on Layer Road to create space for a possible extension, continuously bombarding buildings, trees and floodlights throughout.
Wasted Opportunites: Gregory (through on goal, hit Richard Wright), Lua-Lua (header from 2 yards out, hit advertising board), Gregory again (10 yards out, performed a convincing impression of Jaap Stam taking a penalty)
