There have been some great threads here in the past about this topic. I don't have a whole lot of time right now to do a full search but here's one post that I have saved (which has some great tips for new people, in addition to VIS info). You might want to search a little more to see what else you can dig up here... or if anyone knows where those other VIS info posts are, please post them.
BTW... you express yourself very well here and I don't think you'll have a problem getting your thoughts across at all. But of course we're here to help.
