Some do get convictions. We did and I know of several others that have too. Forensic evidence is rare. Our perp did confess, but that was due to very good detectives. However, another friends perp was convicted without a confession. Again it was just great work on the behalf of the dectives and also testimony from the vicitm. So remember it does happen.
My heart always breaks because too many don't get convictions. But the main thing is push and push. Don't let the case "stall". Keep pressing for charges and if the DA feels there is enough they will file. The age of the victim will also have a huge impact on the case. If the child is older when they disclose the more likely a conviction will occur. Unfortunately, if the child is very young, they often don't prosecute, as the cases against the perps relies upon the testimony of the victim and if the victim is too young to testify (per the courts, not our opinion), then they probably won't file charges.
Praying that you see charges. However, healing is the priority. Trust me, a conviction doesn't heal the wounds.
