Dear Susan- I know it doesn't feel like it but you are not alone. WE will be here for you because we know what it feels like to have your life shattered into a thousand tiny pieces. 4 months ago our 18 yr old daughter disclosed to us that our oldest son molested and raped her when she was 3-4 yrs old.
It was like a huge bomb exploded and nothing looked or felt the same anymore. She had been struggling for 3 years with self-harming,deep depression and eventually a suicide attempt right before Christmas. The only silver lining was that our daughter was still alive and we finally knew what to do to help her. Our adult son has been kicked out of the family so that we can heal. There has definitely been grief letting go of our son; almost worse than death. But the 5 of us have grown closer and much stronger. We know that we can make it thru anything now.
Don't lose faith. People just don't understand this type of pain unless they have been thru it themselves. Join a support group or volunteer at a women's shelter. This will help you alot. You will be around others who know what is important in life. Try some guided therapy for Trauma. There is a great CD called Trauma by Belleruth Naparstak. It has helped more than anything else. And time heals. HUGs, Laura
