Just finished the F9F-5 Monogram 1/48th Panther re-do. This model started out in the mid-80's as a building project between my Son and I. We finished it and put it on the shelf where it sat gathering dust for years. Recently, I decided to run it through O&R (overhaul & repair). The first shot shows the starting point...after that I removed all the old faded decals, sanded down a few areas and cleaned up a few details and added a few missing parts. Then I re-shot most of the GSB paint and applied new decals. Here are a few photos so you can see how she turned out. The model is finished in the markings of MAMRON-33 as seen in the closing days of the Korean war. It was airbrushed with MM enamel Dark Sea Blue paint and decals from the decal 'stash' box. Hope you like her. All comments and observations are welcome.

HyperScale's Group Build Guidelines

The objective of this Group Build is to encourage as many modellers as possible to build their kits and share their progress via words and photos on this Forum.

You are welcome to post general construction tips or relevant reference information and photos to this Forum too.

This Group Build will feature US Navy and Marines aircraft models depicted during the period 1940-1960.

  1. This Group Build will run until 31 December, 2009.

  2. Build as many kits as you like.

  3. Conversions, aftermarket and scratchbuilding are all permitted.

  4. Any markings are acceptable, as long as the model is finished in any US Navy / Marines blue scheme (e.g. Blue Gray / Light Gray, three-colour or Gloss Sea Blue).

  5. Document your progress and do a write-up on your build - where did you have trouble, what improvements did you make, what markings did you choose and why? It would be GREAT if everyone would do a writeup and submit it to HyperScale as a Feature Article.
