I've got a heavy teaching load right now, so I haven't had much time at the model desk. Add to that the $%^$#@ decals that came with this kit and progress has been slow.

The yellow stripes were just too ^%&%$ fragile to apply, so I had to use some decal sheet cut to width, and work my way around. Then the buzz numbers were transluscent, so they sort of look greenish yellow beside the stripes. Sigh. sad.gif The plan is to carefully hand paint over those when i find a yellow to match. The "B17 on the wing upper is actually two decals on top of each other - and it still doesn't look solid.

And of course the white in the national insignia was transluscent as well as being non-standard sizes. At least they were easy to replace with homemade versions.

I hope you all realise that I'm doing this so that Trumpter will release a brand new kit of this impressive beast. Taking one for the team here.

Andrew

That sure is a very pretty colour scheme - and worth all the trouble, so far your work arounds seem to have been quite successfull

I have got one in the stash too - so lets hope Trumpeter will not wait until mine ends up under my claws

Keep going !

It's really coming alive in those markings

A little translucence of the decals could be construed as fading--that would be my story anyway. I look forward to seeing this one completed, and it looks like it's getting close!

HyperScale's Group Build Guidelines

The objective of this Group Build is to encourage as many modellers as possible to build their kits and share their progress via words and photos on this Forum.

You are welcome to post general construction tips or relevant reference information and photos to this Forum too.

This Group Build will feature WWI Aircraft Kits.

  1. This Group Build will run until 31 December, 2011.

  2. Build as many kits as you like.

  3. Conversions, aftermarket and scratchbuilding are all permitted.

  4. Any markings are acceptable.

  5. Document your progress and do a write-up on your build - where did you have trouble, what improvements did you make, what markings did you choose and why? It would be GREAT if everyone would do a writeup and submit it to HyperScale as a Feature Article.
