Magnolia

by Don

I just saw “Magnolia” a few days ago. Loved it. It’s one of those films that I will probably need to see one or two times more to get the full impact, which I will do. The ending was great! (I won’t spoil it for anybody who hasn’t seen it.)

But the theme was unmistakable and really hit a resonant chord with me. Forgiveness. When we hold anger and resentment, we rob ourselves of the deepest of human needs—love and connection to others. We cannot really live if we hold anger in our hearts. Hate, anger, and resentment will destroy any hope that we have for happiness and fulfillment in this world. And the point is that WE have the power to make that choice.

What’s your take?

Matrix was a work of art. Andy would have loved it! (It really made you think about what was real and what was illusion). And Being John Malkovich (Executive producer being none other than Michael Stipe!) was great too. It, was Kaufmanesque in a funny sort of way, which we can discuss after you’ve seen it.

Have you ever seen an old Peter Sellers film called “Being There?”
