I won't speculate on why he is choosing to concentrate on the IDE. Usually it's as simple as "because one wants to". FreeBASIC is currently in a limbo state; there hasn't been a release for over a year. One of the maintainers of the Linux port of Free Pascal has talked about extended lulls with FPC over the years as well. The same with some of my larger projects and group projects. It's a natural thing, particularly when there are a couple or fewer people working on something; you may get burned out, you may get busy, you may change your mind on a few things.
When there was slow spots in FB development a few years ago, I dove into helping out with the wiki. One developer wrote a small package in FB to parse the wiki code so the docs could be saved in various other formats and downloaded. The developers, contributors and the users take pride in the FB docs, and I'm sure that brings many of us closer to the project. Perhaps some similar efforts could be put toward the QB64 wiki. There's always something to do in a project that size.
At any rate, at the end of the day, it's only software, no more no less. It's probably not good to take things personal. What would you be doing had Galleon said not to expect anything for a few months ? How different would your day to day life have been ?
