thanks again solitaire!

the program worked as advertised and its exactly what i needed to to able to edit my entries. i just have to modify it a bit and add the variables for my editor and ill be good to go! with your help, i have been able to create an editor more advanced than anything i have made in the past, and with much less lines! (shows how little i know of QB lol) i love arrays! it cuts the amount of lines needed by about 2/3!
