I've already committed a couple of hours to the switch but the layout of your program and the nature of the way it displays colors makes it a bit tricky. I originally tried to switch it over to a _NEWIMAGE/_PUTIMAGE system but the use of GET/PUT was so extensive that it would have required almost a total rewrite. I've instead settled on a dual layer approach, one for the work-area (and anything else using the work-area's colors) and another for the user interface/menus/etc which use the standard GFX256 palette. The GFX user-interface layer is _PUTIMAGE'd on top of the work-area layer. It works but there are niggling things to address like box area selection.
