SCREEN 0 color attribute manipulation possible in QB?

I'm pretty sure Palette won't work, and if OUT &H3C9 can be used, I sure don't seem to know how to set up the code. (I do get the DAC numbers, btw.)

Anyway, if I wanted to change the SCREEN 0 background color from black to gray, is that possible?

COLOR 7, 0
CLS
PRINT "Demo..."

So it displays white on a gray screen, instead of white on black.

Thanks,

Pete
