And in your next life, let us know if Kong is up and running in the compiler.
As Galleon states, QB Foverever!
- I just wish he wasn't using that saying as an estimate of project completion time.
OK on a serious note: I think Laanan hit on something I was thinking of too; that Galleon couldn't finish what is left because the stuff towards the end is stuff he still doesn't have a good handle on. If so, maybe he is trying to buy some time by working on other QB64 related stuff, in hopes he will decide/learn how to finish the compiler in time. If so, I just wish he would have told us that some months ago.
Personally, I feel sold out. I'm just about able to compile the stuff I really care about, and then pow, the project goes off in a different direction.
I will state I'm impressed Galleon got this far on the compiler project. Too often bugs take over in huge projects and the outcome is, well, crap. Too many problems to clean up or as much time devoted to cleaning as was put into making it in the first place. That hasn't been my experience with the QB64 compiler. Most of what Galleon has produced for the compiler has delivered good to excellent results when tested. I really do commend him for that, but if anyone told me a year ago the compiler would be some three years away from completion, I would have disregarded that prediction, but now it seems that's where the project is actually at, bummer.
It's pretty hard to get excited about anything now in QB64. I mean I already have a QB IDE I love, it comes complete with help included... and it's WIKI-free! On top of that, it is now a trust issue. I can't trust that two years from now, something else won't come up to delay the compiler even further.
