By "generated randomly", I hope that you don't mean QBasic's RND. RND is a 24 bit linear congruential generator. It is not cryptographicly secure.
I'll admit that not knowing the algorithm could be a problem, but not one that should stop capable adversaries. I think it's generally accepted that it is better to correctly use well known algorithms, than to use secret algorithm, and hope that noone can figure it out. Certainly don't rely on the "secrecy" of the algorithm as your primary source of security.
