Probably,but you have to remember it was a very secretive and nefarious world in those days. When Broomhill and I were researching my father's wages regarding the book that Broomhill was writing, there was absolutely no reference to any of the wages paid to my father !!??. Every other player was accounted for! We looked through all SUFC's account books(beautifully scripted and kept by the way) and there was no mention of wages to Jimmy Hagan. I have no idea how it was done or if there were illegal payments. All I was told was that he wasn't going to sign for Wednesday because he wouldn't be able to live in the city and walk down the street as normal. You have to remember in those days he went to Bramall Lane on the bus, not in a window tinted fancy car. He would always stop and sign an autograph book and would even chat to supporters if they stopped him. Not like todays superstars.
