How long was the wage bill at £20m a year, perhaps 2 years when we had parachute money, tevez money, sales from players who were on these stupid wages. This arguement doesn't really stack up when you consider how much cash has been turned over and accumulated from transfer fee's. I mean for one of those 2 seasons we were a premiership club with by far the lowest wage bill.
I do think its long overdue that McCabe came out and said whats going on. If we are skint then explain how we are properly without faffing about a wage bill that hasn't actually that high. Bearing in mind in the last three years or so, our gate has ranged from close to 30,000 and still sits around the 20,000 mark.
Put it in context, the team right now is comparable in size and quality with the one Heath had 12 years ago. Back then we were lucky to get 12,000. When the club have spent the last decade saying how we are being run well and sensibly, this just does not add up. Where has the additional income gone from the offices around Bramall lane that was supposed to be worth a couple of thousand on the attendance figures, that was to be used to fund the wage bill. 7 months of Bryan Robson did not screw our finances that badly with all the parachute money, incoming fee's, tevez money we had coming in.
