Hi coolblade, to clarify - in my opinion Ertl was verging on woeful last night, but in saying that criticism of him was deserved I certainly didnt intend to condone the verbal abuse he got. whether being played out of position, being out of match practice or whatever reason, abuse of that sort can only make things worse. rest assured my dissappointment was restricted to groans. He looked scared of the ball from the off, but credit to him for sticking with it, and whilst he doesnt have Lowtons ability to overlap he did get forward on occasions.

The bad language and abuse spoils the game for me, which is one reason I dont attend more often. Cresswell, Doyle, Wiliamson and Wilson, not to mention the lino and ref, all came in for their share from the "erudite" minority.

Unfortunately its part of the game and players need to be able to handle negativity. Collins has had a great season and is being recognised for it. However, i dont think thats down to his treatment by the crowd, the crowd is responding to his success. Its a results business and a cruel one and youre only as good as your last game. Were I Wilson I'd have taken Ertl off (had there been a suitable sub), and Cresssy off earlier, and I wouldnt have had three strikers on the bench with no defensive cover. I think Wilsons choice of bench and his substitutions is his weak spot.

I guess everyone was massively disappointed last night, and unfortunately people disply that in different ways. Anyway, its back to bladesplayer for Saturday and heres hoping for a better performance & result.
