Its a fact of football life, certainly at the lane that there is always someone the crowd will pick on.
Wether it is as prevalent elsewhere then I cannot say but certain sections of the lane crowd have always had it in for someone starting with Arthur Bottom, a name not known to a lot of posters on here, probably with the exception of two I can think of.
I would only be a kid when he played when I would stand behind the white railings,on the lane end, they ran round the ground,as we played cricket then.
There has been many players singled out for treatment, one that recently comes to mind is Leighterwood. He seems to have done reasonably well since he left us.
I am sure that you all could name a few, it would be interesting to be reminded of others.
Wragg and Spencer come to mind but they are from the distant past.
As regarding Ertle,it will not do his game any good to keep barracking him, but what is his rightful position?
Certainly will never be a full back, not the position in which he should be selected for.
From what I have seen of him it remains in the centre, either midfield or defence.
Does not seem to have made it at the lane since he came from Crystal Palace, but remember one game against us playing for Palace when he was in the thick of things in midfield breaking up our attacks.
Having just watched 4 mins of highlights at Walsall the defending was appalling, the basic mistake by Hill in conceding the goal and Simmoson looked again rooted to his line.
We have a lot of improving to do to even get a point at Brentford, but should have Lowton and Macguire back, let us hope that they have learnt something from their stupidity last week v Oldham.
