Response to Kevin McCabe

You make a fair point. What grates me about McCabe is how he'll constantly remind us how much debt he takes for the club, but accepts no accountability for the club being in such a state in the first place.

The key moment where it went wrong was the post Warnock era. Robsons tenure was severely detrimental to the club and his managerial appointment was based on commercial reasons rather then footballing ones. Around the same time McCabe put so much resource into making us a global brand he neglected the club itself. The appointment of Blackwell at the time was a masterstroke but McCabe also bankrolled his ultimate failure. Managers since then were on a hiding to nothing. A technically poor squad, no money to spend with no morale crushed throughout the club .

In his defence, straight after relegation last year the club issued a refreshingly honest statement that accepted responsibility for the recent decline and a clear commitment to getting this club back to where it wants to be. Appointing Wilson was a wild decision but one which in spite of recent disappointments show his vision for Sheffield United that is exciting football for the fans, emphasis on academy development and financial prudence that won't cripple the club.
