Response to Re: United season review - part four
The club did not rest on it's laurels. The club signed Hoskins, who (unless I read things in a duifferent language)most thought was a very good signing. Unfortunately he suffered a double hernia. That is bad luck, not poor plannning by the club.
As for the play off final being a cautious pick by Wilson, that is just trying to find fault where there is none. He can't conjure up people that we haven't got. 4-5-1 was the only way we could sensibly go. And we are the only side in the history of the play offs to have failed to get promoted without conceding a goal in any of our play off matches.
Sometimes you just have to accept that luck was against you, and that was the case this season unlike previous play off failures.
Hoskins was used sparingly by Wilson...not a successful signing.
There were eleven players on the pitch, same as Huddersfield. Smithies was underemployed. We had three 'genuine' forwards in the squad, none of them used together in the final until very late, a typical Wilson tactic....late substitutions, a much discussed point on forums.
Promotion without conceding a goal....you don't say. Turn that round...you do it.
Luck is the domain of the incompetent...the more you practice the luckier sportsmen get. Every team in history has the same 'luck'...it is just tackled in different ways and situations. There is a reason that we have a lot of 'Bad luck'.
You work it out.
