Yes it is bad luck.
It is also circumstance. We had a pretty small squad this season. There were not many to pick from. That is a direct consequence of our finances and being in league 1. There wasn't any more money to be had. It is probably quite hard persuading the sort of player we hope to get to drop down into League 1 and play their football.
We scored the 3rd highest number of goals (or something like that) in Europe - only Real Madrid and Barcelona scored more in their domestic leagues. Evans goals were important but they were far from the be all and end all of our season.
We recorded 90 something points - any other season we would probably have won the title. We would certainly have been promoted.
The reality was; we were not quite good enough despite the facts above. We aren't Barcelona, we are Sheffield United. IMHO we did well, Wilson did well, the squad did well, we were a little short of what was needed BUT we were really unlucky.
Ps Mall, How do you think we will do next season? What do we need to do this summer?
For me, If we get the right striker, hold onto the key players from this season we will get promoted.
If we lose a few and don't get that striker, I see us being playoffs at best (somewhere between 10 and 4 place)
