As I understand it--and I am not claiming to be an expert--the club belongs to the shareholders viz me, lots of others and McCabe. He owns most of the shares and can more or less do what he likes within the law.
Secondly, he is not introducing a new cost--it is internal, a paper transaction which will make no difference to the supporters.
BUT--he is clearly hoping to attract funds to boost the football side of things. If he can do that then we will get promoted through the leagues. Supporters will be happy because we will be back in the promised land. McCabe and all of the shareholders will be happy because value will return to the shares.
