| It was Kyle Walker showing us all what could have been, if that total tool McCabe could just see a little further than the balance sheets.
Why.. do we bother to unearth gems from the academy, just to have them sold on, and then come back and rub our noses in it?
I just hope KM was watching KW score that goal, and wonder of he felt any pain at all, it was the most miserable moment in a long time as a blade.
A moment that epitomised all that has gone wrong with this club.
Oh, and KM apologists, don't start waffling on about "we'd be a further £8m in debt if we hadn't sold him" garbage. We'd be knocking on the Prem door with the 2 Kyles and a bit more gumption in the transfer field, KB squandered what little money there was, KM just wants as much of it back now, regardless of the consequences. |

McCabe was in the Directors section but I doubt whether he does embarrassment at all. |

Blame KM snd Robbo for squandering the money---Hendrie on £12k per week, Beattie on 43k per week. Then KM bottled it. Had Beattie played at wembley we would have scored. We had 2 years of parachute money--Robbo wasted much, KB nearly rescued it , climbed the league in his first part season: wembley in second season and then KM sold all the players. And not for the first time! He did the same over 10 years ago when we were cruising in 2nd place in league, got to semi-final of FA cup but by this time KM had sold two of the best strikers we ever had. |

here is a quote from Kevin Mc in a reply to me--his letter is dated 8 Sept 1998--"when one ends up in the pound seat, at certain times action has to be taken --for the welfare of the club--which appears to be against the best interests of the team and supporters." |

I'd be really interested to know the order of events that led to the sale of the 2 Kyles. Did McCabe go to their agents and say "start touting their names around" or was it the agents that knew Spurs were looking for a couple of young English defenders and started touting them. I watched a programme about agents in French football Monday night and the message was once players have an idea of the money they'll make elsewhere, 99% of them will move and the club can do very little to stop them.
Could McCabe have put more money on the table in those first wage negotiations with them? Undoubtedly yes. Could he have rivaled Spurs' offer? Undoubtedly no. Once their heads were turned, his job was to negotiate the largest transfer fee he could...

The irony was, that Spurs were never interested in Walker originally, just Naughton. Walker was bolted onto the deal by McCabe to jack up the combined sale value to a nice round £8m.
The money offered for KN was approx £5.5m - £6m good money accepted. KW was just added onto the deal out of greed by KMcC and a total disregard for the fans and the future of the club. |
