the world does not seem a better place! Looked out of my window this morning to see a car decked in Huddersfield flags etc parked on the road outside our house! Plenty of sympathetic texts from Hudds fans but you get the feeling they feel sorry for us in a kind of way but are so pleased it wasn't them that lost in that way.
Agree with many of the posts on here that we simply didn't do enough yesterday but with the squad we had available it didn't surprise me at all that we couldn't create or even if we did there was no one to put the ball in the back of the net. I can't help but feel that we have been incredibly unlucky this season for what seems to be a very unlucky side! To end the season with nothing when you were in automatics for a huge part of the season and gained the most points of any third-placed team is very bad luck but to also lose your star striker who is sent to prison at the business end of the season and then for a striker filling in to get sent off and receive a four match ban is simply beyond belief. It has been the cruellest of cruel seasons to lose out on automatics to your city rivals and then to lose in the play-offs on penalties when you could have gone ahead - it is pretty tough to take.
As others have pointed out this is our chance to keep a good manager and get rid of the hangers on who have contributed little but commanded big wages. I for one wouldn't be sad to see the back of Simmo (yes he kept us in the match yesterday but during the season he let in some absolute howlers that I do believe cost us automatics as much as Ched getting sent down), Williamson (injury prone and isn't consistent enough), Monty (has been a good servant to the club but cut a pathetic figure on the pitch yesterday and has done for some time), Doyle (not sure what he adds), Creswell (he is too old) and Porter (he is not a 30 goal or even 20 goal a season striker and should be moved on - big mistake to bring him to the club). The others we should try to keep but in Wilson I do believe we have a manager who can get us to the promised land if supported and given the time. The football played by us this season on the whole has been a massive improvement.
That said I'm sure we will all be back in August hoping that just for once things may go our way. I bloody well hope so and that 2012-13 season is lucky for us.
