What are You doing for the 4th of July weekend?!

July 3 2009 at 3:07 AM

I'm heading out in a few hours to a Quilt show where I have my Tiger Quilt entered.
I doubt it will win anything but it will get a critique from the judges which will give me insight and info on where I need to improve.
Also it will be cool to see it hanging in a quilt show because it had to be 'accepted' first. happy.gif

Otherwise we are doing what we usually do. Stay home and watch all the great fireworks going on around us.

Have a very Happy and Safe 4th of July weekend!!

Sorry everyone on the delay. I've just been really busy!

As for the 4th, we're pretty broke right now so probably won't be doing much of anything unless friends invite us over or something.

We're going over to a friend's house today. I think that's the most fun anyway. Yikes - wonder if anyone thought to bring watermelon!

a Powwow? Sounds really interesting! We've never been but I always wanted to go. Do the dancers mind having their pictures taken?

Let me know next time you're coming thru Austin and maybe we can do lunch...

People have to ask. The dancers sometimes get angry if you don't. I've been told no by a few. Lucky me my boyfriend is Native American so when they say no to me I send him. They will usually say yes to him. Don't know why they do that but they do.

One day I will go up to Austin. If nothing else to get away from San Antonio. happy.gif

For the 4th

July 3 2009, 12:28 PM

we're not doing much. Might go see the fireworks near us. A lot of the cities/towns by me are not having them. Too broke.

For all who celebrate the 4th of July have a great holiday weekend. Be safe.

Hugs,

I read

July 4 2009, 9:34 AM

about a lot of towns across the country not doing fireworks... that's sad... I love watching fireworks...

I hope you can find a show to see!!

roofing is hard work! Practically our whole neighborhood got new roofs last year because of a hailstorm. Those guys worked like maniacs, most of the houses got reroofed in one day each. Boy was it noisy here for months after...

We're at the observatory

July 3 2009, 10:15 PM

Russ has to work 3rd and 4th. It's at 100% humidity right now with lightning 20km away, so the telescopes are closed. If the weather continues, I doubt they'll be doing fireworks in the area tomorrow. But I was very heartened to see that the fire danger up here is only moderate, which is remarkable for this time of year. Amazingly green!

I hope they're able to do the fireworks!!! It's so dry here - we're under a burn ban and water restrictions. I watered this morning and will again at sunset - because of the idiots in the 'hood who think that the burn ban / fireworks ban doesn't apply to them... and it's not even our day to water.

Hope y'all are feelin better...

It's been sooooooooooo hot that

July 6 2009, 7:54 PM

we didn't have any temps over 100 for almost the whole month of June... then we went up to normal the first week in July and now ............... 109 and up to 115 on Saturday (drum roll or scream of pain) LOL .... It might not be that hot ... on the up side ... it's only 8 weeks until Sept 1st! we missed about 4-5 weeks of much lower than average temps and now we only have a little more than 2 months of hell instead of 3 1/2 months of hell. At least that's the way i look at it now!

I scrubbed the kitchen floor and picked up things around the house.  Since I spent the better part of June running back and forth to Bakersfield to tend to my mother and help take care of my father a lot of things at home got pushed aside.

Well

July 12 2009, 9:00 PM

I headed to my parents for the weekend. The goal had been to swim on Friday and Sunday while going to my friend's 4th of July picnic, but it was a bit too cold. I did have fun at the picnic though.

A coworker of my dad's gave him sparklers so I had to help him figure them out and light them. happy.gif
