Here are a few photos of Earl in Miami in '65' or '72' (or '65' AND '72') (photos got intermingled over the years - wasn't Bill Heath driving the Long Gone in '72'?) - He brought the 'Miss Merion Bluegrass' to Miami on a stake body - I think they took the freshly built cradle off the stake body & set it on the ground where the crane could reach, I don't remember them putting the boat on a yard trailer for around the pits (can anyone help me out on this?) - Earl & his crew all outfitted themselves in denim bibs (aka John Stouffer(sp) in later years) - It was the first time I had seen him run - WOW is right! - by the 2nd lap of his elimination heat (boy, those were the days) he had a half a lap lead on the Chrysler's and won the heat - It was almost a repeat in the final, but the chevy came apart a lap short of the finish line - I couldn't believe I had just watched that chevy walk ALL the chrysler's, including the ones Keith Black built!!
