There must be the most exclusive area of Salonica as I thought. It might be an old building too. At least, there is closer to my hometown. That's an option of a project of 8 years later however...

i think Thessaloniki suburbs will become part of the city in a few years and the towns and villages behind them will become new suburbs.

Kalamaria is a nice area but out of all Thessaloniki suburbs i prefer Oraiokastro.

this is not a thread to debate which city is better! You started this thread because you wanted to know where to stay in Thessaloniki. If you want to debate which city is better then open a thread on that topic!

Also you are lucky I even let you post in here so please don't start with bad behavior again.

The reason that he can not pronounce foreign languages is because he is not used to pronouncing and shaping the mouth/tongue to pronounce certain letters and words not in his language. Everyone is susceptible to that! lol lol lol lol

Turk79,

the cities of Kalamati and such are areas aroung Thessaloniki and sometimes considered suburbs of Thessaloniki. The other members were just discussing which areas of Thessaloniki they like the best and all of that information should help you decide where to stay while in Thessaloniki.

No one compaired their city with Istanbul or Athens or Rome or anywhere else.

The best hotel in thessaloniki is Hayatt. It is great when i last stayed exclusive it was a little bit crowded than usual due to military elite meeting. The rooms are beautiful and spacious and the come with bathroom and shower! The decoration is superb as the quility of the room facitilies it offers. The service is exellent and i highly recomend the pancakes for breakfast (it is in the room "menu" i do not know if it exists in the standard breakfast in te dining room-hate to go there). Its casino doesn't worth and it is far from the hotel as the hotel is far from the city centre.

As for kalamaria, it means "kali" (good) +meria (place). Maybe turks calls salami a "good thing" or a bad "joke":P :P. Besides it was out of "misspelling" that pronounce wrong the greek toponyms (Thessaloniki, Polis, Smyrne and so on) :P Well I guess it is up to its language capacities. Seriously though i find them better than "greek" impostors who try to "cover" a bad joke towards greeks using the excuses of the retarded people.

Kalamaria is not a beutiful area, quite the opposite i think. I certainly prefer oreokastro and panorama. I haven't been lately though to kalamaria and it is good that new buildings appear to the area. The area needs to take some value. Considering it was an area where refugees found a home, it was built under difficulty and carries the signs of an overcrowded area as piraias of athens.

Greeks can never achieve anything by themselves cause even it were the others who created the greek nation and state. Tell me only one sucess in your short history.

Who cares about the reason? The question is: Did you or did you not get thrown out of the balkans? And when it comes to the Greeks and that they cant do anything by themselves and there so called need for anglo-saxon dollars..read in the below link, i posted it once before to you in the turky-forum..

"On the surface, the comment seems innocuous, but the context as well as the time period suggests Kissinger had abetted illegal financial aid and arms support to Turkey for its 1974 Cyprus invasion".

Sucess in what? War? Is war all you care about? I guess thats why you always will be the sick man of europe.. The sucess of the greeks is written in every history book you can come across. Read som of it..you might learn somthing instead of masturbating to pictures of nice new tanks and fighter aircrafts on the internet.

Ptolic:

Did you or did you not get thrown out of the Anatolia and even Eastern Balkans?

Kissinger was not president of USA in 1974. So you had better read "Johnson Letter": "United States is going to attack Turkey though NATO membership in case she occupies the Cyprus"...and USA emplaced the "6th Navy" in the mediterranean between Turkey and cyprus so that Turkey wouldn't have occupied the island. But Turkey occupied the island passing through next to the american navy. Moreover, Ismet Pasha sent a threat to US in case they act against Turkey. According war reports, Turkey had occupied most of the island in 4 days but it were USA, UK and UN who prevented completion of this operation cause they could loose their bases on the island. They couldn't do anything for sure. But US put weapon embargo on Turkey. However, they had to lift that 4 years later.

Everybody can make scientific researchments but anybody cannot rule the world...and you must thank us because they were we Turks who rescued the orthodoxy from europeans just as we wiped the european barbarians off the middle east.

On the other hand, Turks have also very important scientific contributions to humanity as well. Moreover, it were Turks who founded the first university in the world - "Nizamiye Medresesi" - in Iraq. That was start of the arabian renaissance and first historicians who graduated there, went to greece and made first researchments about hellenism. Later, renaissance had spread to europe by islamic rule. Of course your greek and western history doesn't mention about that because of incredibly inferioty complex toward Turks.

However you also know that modern greeks have nothing to do with ancient greeks.

It was Ottoman Empire who were sick man of europe. We are Turkey and we have been developing 4 times faster than european countries.

Arksilea:

"How many cities has Turkey founded? The cities you're living now are pre-Greek. "

Ancient greeks have never lived on most of the anatolia, what's more ancient anatolian people have nothing to do with modern greeks at all. Besides, Turkish people are not %100 pure central asian Turks. They've also mixed up a bit with the previous nations.

...and does it make any sense that New York City was founded by Amerindians or else, Melbourne was founded by Aborginals?

No he was not the president but he and the rest of the advisors called the shots in there "little playground" which is called the world. Do you know any american president who is who have 100% control?? And Ismet Pasha sent a threat to US???..how very brave of ismet bay..if it was true! Read the link that i gave you carefully..and give me a link to the "Johnson Letter" please.

"On the other hand, Turks have also very important scientific contributions to humanity as well. Moreover, it were Turks who founded the first university in the world - "Nizamiye Medresesi" - in Iraq".

Oh..i thought the oldest university in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records is the University of Al Karaouine in Fez, with its founding in 859. That is if you dont consider all the greek and roman academys that was spread around the mediteranean in the centurys BC. And we should not forget the institutions of higher learning, institutions that were not called universitys: Nalanda, Constantinople (the first European medieval "university", that of Magnaura in Constantinople founded in 849), Al Karaouine or Al-Azhar. Nalanda and the "University" founded in Bihar, India around the 5th century BC. Please give me a link that refers to your so called "first university in the world - "Nizamiye Medresesi" - in Iraq"...i am interested to read more about it.

False. There are many archaeological discoveries showing the Greeks were there millenniums before the Turks showed up. Not only that but many Turks are in fact Greek by origin racially along with Armenian and Kurdish. Amazing loosing that Asian / Mongolian look to Armenian, Greek appearance we see now on Turks.

Seems the conquerer got tainted here rather then the conquered ones. And only recently as far as last century, we saw many, many of Greeks driven out of their rightful lands in Anatolia. We Greeks are decedents of the Ancients as much as the Iranians are to the Persians. So having said this, we Greeks and Armenians gave you the looks you have today We are your fathers KanuniSS

True Turkic people are of white-race origin. There were red-blond hair type people founded by archaeological discoveries in Eastern-Turkestan. Now, Central Asian Turkic people look like mongolian because 8% of the men in a large region of Asia are descendants of only Genghis Khan. Turks have nothing to do with armenians because armenians used to live in eastern anatolia with kurds. But 300.000 armenians adopted islam and Turkified during the bloddy events. But that makes maximum 1 million people in Turkey who are descendants of armenians.

No, you are not descendants of ancient greeks:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/231937/thread/1188514737/last-1189236792/Proof+about+there+is+not+a+greek+nation

Iranians are of mostly Turkic origin and persians are not so much related with the ancient ones. However, there some people in anatolia who are of persian origin. For instance, you may find dark-skinned people in the central anatolia besides blond ones. I guess you won't say ancient greeks were blond.

...and yes, these are 16 great Turkic empires and their flags are logo of the presidency.

"""All I see in the TF forum is pictures of Greek ancient ruins to modern Greek style Greek architecture along with recent Turkish architecture."""

I mean scientific achievements. I don't remember I have ever posed pictures of ancient ionian ruins. You must be experts of something to appropriate something. How many ancient greek style buildings can you show me in greece? We Turks have invented cafe culture, jacket&pants, soap..etc, etc. but we never mention the entire world owe their civilzation to us. You don't get anglicized using electricty in your home.

They're not stolen. You can still see them in museums. But they are just for male because treasures of the kings and viziers were owned by the state and reverted to the palace on their deaths, those belonging to the women of the court did not. Turkish treasury is still the greatest treasury in the world no matter how it has reduced dramatically since the monarchy.
