Athens. Greece's newly appointed Minister of Culture Antonis Samaras has been receiving death threats since the moment he joined the new Greek government, Antena TV informs. There is a record distributed on the Internet, which says "You will die soon". Skopje citizens, who called themselves "Macedonians" [sic], make open threats against Samaras and called him "Greek nazi" in their online blog, the media reports.
The Minister refused commenting the case, the television informed. Greek politicians strongly censured the record.
FOCUS News Agency reminds that Antonis Samaras entered the Ministry of Culture after the reshuffles in the cabinet, announced at the beginning of January by Greek Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis. Samaras used to be Minister of Foreign Affairs in Constantine Mitsotakis's government in the 90s. His position on the Macedonian issue, in reference to the belonging of Macedonia's territory, citizens as well as Macedonian historical legacy caused misunderstandings in New Democracy political party. He was removed from the cabinet in 1992 at the request of the former President Konstantinos Karamanlis.
