About 7/ 8 years ago I had the chance to buy a 16800 comex for £14K

At the time I was living by self\ mid 30's own place\ GTI in the garage\ CBR600 along the back & really wanted that watch big time. It had Rolex service papers & looked like it was out of a time capsule

However, my girlfriend was getting pretty restless due to my reluctance to sell both our houses & move into together. Round about that time we'd split for a few weeks & then got back together & had then decided to sell up\ move in together. We decided to go for it - as big\ best a house as we could get so no selling\ outgrowing it after a few years - with great reluctance I put off buying the 16800, sold my house, sold the GTI, sold the CBR (replacing it was a KLR650 trail bike to keep my hand in). I split my time between my girlfriends & my parents for 6 months & after numerous viewings we eventually got a call from estate agent that a house purchase had fallen through at last min\ the couple who were selling had already bought & their seller had disappeared literally at last min when due to sign papers. We got the house although we soon discovered the joys of older houses .... !! Yes - bigger\ private garden, more privacy but also the joys off home repair, 3 skips to clear the overgrown garden. However - no regrets as really love living here

5 years ago I demoted my 10 year Omega SMP & splashed out on a brand new Rolex SD.

The SD's a brill watch - I still look at it daily & appreciate the fact I'm such a lucky guy but at least once a month I still think back to that 16800 (especially when the prices of comex watches started going through the roof .... !!)

Anyway - no were near as good a tale as some of you guys but thought I'd share this one with you guys
