I have been pretty comfortable in my sales and trades as they were usually to get something else I loved or to avoid the wife tossing me in the doghouse.
I did, however, have a really exceptional piece. A very very nice 1680 - it was my first vintage and loved it and splurged with an expensive spa visit.
But then I quickly went insane and got a beautiful 1675 Rolex GMT and a 1964 Day-Date. Oh and I also picked up the vintage Omega.
My wife was angry that I got the Omega which was relatively cheap. As such I was sure my wife would kill me when she found out about the Day-Date and the GMT. So I sold the 1680 and came clean with my wife. It guess I feared the wife more than the pain of letting the 1680 go.
Anyway, it is now in a good place (on the wrist of one of our favorite VRF members) and life goes on.
