Yes, but isn't that the reason that Christ sent His Spirit to reside within us. So when we walk after the spirit and not the flesh anymore, that He overcomes for us? Because we are unable to do it by ourselves?
I believe that is what John was talking about written in 1st John 4:
1: BELOVED, BELIEVE NOT EVERY SPIRIT, BUT TRY THE SPIRITS WHETHER THEY ARE OF GOD. BECAUSE MANY FALSE PROPHETS ARE GONE OUT INTO THE WORLD.
2: HEREBY KNOW YE THE SPIRIT OF GOD: EVERY SPIRIT THAT CONFESSETH THAT JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH IS OF GOD.
Meaning is that only talking about Jesus Christ walking on this earth only, or is it speaking also about Jesus Christ residing with in our flesh instead? I say it is saying that. And the reason I am saying that is mainly written in verse 4. But need to also copy verse 3 first about those that do not believe what I am saying here.
3 AND EVERY SPIRIT THAT CONF3ESSETH NOT THAT JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH IS NOT OF GOD: AND THIS IS THAT SPIRIT OF ANTI-CHRIST, WHEREOF YE HAVE HEARD THAT IT SHOULD COME: AND EVEN NOW ALREADY IS IT IN THE WORLD.
4: YE ARE OF GOD LITTLE CHILDREN, AND HAVE OVERCOME THEM: BECAUSE GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.
Meaning because Jesus Christ resides within some, that is why we are now able to overcome.
Oddly most do not continue on reading to get the real meaning of those scriptures at all. But instead stop at verse 3. But verse 4 gives us an idea of what John is talking about totally there. Meaning not only the birth of Jesus christ coming to this earth at all, but also what the death on the cross supplied us with as well.
Some use scripture whenever it serves to prove what they have chosen to believe. But then reject or ignore others whenever it doesn't, but instead is contradictory to what they have chosen to believe. Instead of finding out why some do contradict others dealing with the same subjects.
Love in Christ,
