The effort (in which I believe you also find a lot of pleasure!)you put into thoughts on the past and the future is amazing. Actually I'm a bit jealous, since I've lost my own fascination on the subjects... But sometimes when your mind is wandering I hope that you will remember that
you can't (yet!) change the past, and there is nothing certain about the future (except maybe death?). Life is here and now.
As for a "good" number of inhabitants on earth, how can this be fixed to an exact amount of millions? Genetic manipulation has enabled (and I'm not saying this is a good or bad thing) a large ingrease of agriculture output, and a lot more humans can be fed today than 100/1000/10000 years ago. And is it likely that things can stay static, just look at what evolution and natural selection has accomplished so far!? This need to control and manipulate life on earth seems to me like a couple of people with an overdose of arrogance...
Anyway, I'm glad there are people thinking seariously about these matters, so I'll keep monitoring the thoughts beeing spread here.
Thank you Pontus for your kind words. You are right, doing this is really fun. Try it and your "own fascination" will come back with force. I found it much easier by sticking with "what is" or "what could happen", rather than going into what "ought to be" or "what should be done".
Nothing is certain about the future. Is that true? I am inclined to think that a broad outline of the future is predictable, but not the precise details. There will be at least five hurricanes in the Caribbean this year, but their precise course we cannot tell.
