as it is only a 36mm case, it would look like an oversized Diver on his wrist (44mm to you & me). It is most probably waterproof still, but check the back seal before he goes swimming (perhaps a little vaseline on the rubber o ring & screw down crown).
I'll expect a photo with goggles,snorkel etc when he has his next bath. lol.
