its all because of Pomat Manuai

December 19 2010, 8:49 PM

Pomat Manuai is the executive chairman of Border Development authority. Pomat Manuai is running for elections in Manus in 2012. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to put 2 and 2 together.

The pity is that he is the most stupid Manusian that we have ever produced. The only smart thing that he has ever done is deciding to become Pruaitch's briefcase carrier and that is why he got appointed executive chairman of Border Development Authority.

There have been other Sunamist Brief Case Carriers too...welcome to reality...sunamist

December 23 2010, 6:24 AM

Other excellent Sunamist Brief Case Carriers were and are:

1. Belden Sevua.....Somare
2. Twain Pongi......Chan
3. Paliau Benard....Chan
4. Jacob Jumogot.....Wingti
5. Stephen Pokawin....Somare
6. Lamech Palaso....Polye
7. Kiliwi Chollai....Philemon

Do you need more names? There are more undignified names to add if you care to know.

Ethically...what is wrong with being a brief case carrier?

Be a leader, make your dreams come true...come and challenge the bosses of the brief case carriers come 2012 if you are able? I also wishfully want to run in 2012...but conditional on money...if not I will give my support to other worthy candidates.

You are correct, Pomat will run...but even if he fails...he will not need your support...ever.

2012

October 13 2011, 1:13 AM

My Dream is to get all islands of Manus a small fishing vessel each to go out for Tuna troll and come back to the island with the catch for Lorengau to sell and maybe export to Japan Directly...

Can anyone help us ............

The other plan is for a bill to be passed so that Manus and other island provinces can benefit from the seas boundaries...We can no longer rely on western influence on our constitution telling us that all ocean within whatever demarcation is for the state...

Manus may not have the gold but our seas have frinkin contributed a lot to the wallet own

Maybe leaders can sit with Powes and write proposals, win projects and develop Manus into a island of tourism...the challenge is what can we provide for tourists?

I will create a website with all Names of our Manus Leaders and what they have achieved so far....

I will Post the Link very soon.

Tuna tuna tuna

October 20 2011, 8:01 AM

You have no sense of global economics. To sell to the international market, you need to have a cannery. To sell your catch to a cannery, you need to be able to deliver, on demand, hundreds of tonnes of tuna. That would take dozens of large fishing boats. None of this is going to happen in Manus for another few generations and by then the foreigners will have taken all our tuna anyway.

My advice is to let the Chinese and Philippinos continue to gain control of the PNG tuna resource.

A few boats and we will export etc, etc.

You need a fisshing "FLEET" to support a fishing industry. You need cold stores, and staff to man them, to export overseas. You have to go and market your product to the Asian countries, like Japan for instance. Your product has to be first class, and supply has to be reliable.

Big tuna are iced down in special containers, and air-freighted to Japan live. Does Manus have an International sized airport to do this? This is the high value end of the fishin,g worth thousands of dollars a fish, for the Sashimi market. The japanese will pay top price for the right product.

Show me your infrastructure, your marketing department, your logistics and administartiv staff. I know some expatriate, uni educated Manuusians, who could probably organise this, but would they want to? I think it would ber too frustratinhg for them.

Last but not least. Where is your funding for this project? You would need about $30M for the infrastructure, plus your fishing fleet. Let's assume the boats are all privately owned, for the exercise. You would need the port faciities then, to handle the catch quickly, and get it to the cold store. Then you would need the transport, and the roads, to do so.

Need I go on?......Ralph.

I typed that in a hell of a hurry.

Corrections:
Administrative staff

I forgot to mention the cannery.

There once was some tuna from Manus,
Who asked one day can you can us,
We're stale they all roared,
And as stiff as a board,
And save for tinpis and rais thay would ban us.

Do you have trouble with reality?
No. I'm an Aardvark.

Regards......Ralph

Tourism

October 25 2011, 5:59 PM

Hi,
Stumbled onto this post through google - after doing some search.
Not sure if you aware of the Manus Professionals for Community Development Inc - (www.developmanus.org) .
The key activity also is a Manus mailing list that brings together 800+ Manusians around the world together to discuss issues concerning Manus. http://groups.google.com/group/manus_png/topics) - One of the long term projects which is to be looked at is Tourism opportunities.

Be good to get on the list and share your thoughts also.

Thanks,

This site have been up for almost 11 years now. There have been interesting topic in the past about Manus Elections in the Politics thread. Due to almost 600 reply in over two years to the same topic the thread has been locked. Please use this site as a social network for PNGeans and get connected with other interesting people.

Thanks
