Hi mE,
Lihir Is igat wanpela Geothermal Power Station.
Wanpela plan bilong em, dispela Geothermal Power Station em connectim long "national Grid". Em mekim dispela samting oa nogat? Sapos em mekim connection. Wanem effect dispela samting mekim long pawa preis bilong PNG?
Beach Petroleum, Santos, etc, em drillim tripela well long Parlana Project long Sth. Aust, 3,000+ metre daunbilo. Ol injectim wara na steam kamap, draivim turbine = Geothermal Pawa.
PNG i gat Geothermal Pawa ino longwe daunbilo. Sampela 200metre nabout. Em gutpela project.
Any intention to put geothermal power should do a thorough study on the cost involved. although its got a high cap cost to put up, it also requires higher maintenance cost. Ralph's suggestion to study the one at lihir is good idea...the proper cost-benefit assessment is required based on estimated consumption by the communities and business that gonna use it.
I have just enquired with a firm online and they are willing to do a feasibility study for geo-thermal. I know if we get a feasibility study done by a reputable firm, we can surely find funding from the National Government or even Donor Agencies.
So far gutpla discussion, mi stap long Kokopo na sapos yupla tingting long kam around with the plans..at least me man on the land with contact na yumi ken wok from there

Hi mate,
sorry I haven't emailed you. I went 5 metres under in the flood. The place is still a shambles. But at least I have now purchased a new computer.
Rabaul should be an ideal place for Geothermal Power. Except, maybe a the local volcanoes may still be too active to harness the power. ie. With such reqular tremors, maybe all drill-holes, and pipes, may prove too difficult to maintain. You have to ensure the integrity of all such infrastructure, to generate the needed electricity. No use if you have to rebuid them every second week. Is there subterranean steam already there, as in Taupo NZ?
Jack Pidik tried to bulldoze his way with the geothermo thing but landowners with the help of a certain NGO group base in POM intervene and put a stop to the whole thing. Now the people of Matupit with help from the NGO group want all landowners issues sorted out first before anything else is done on the site.
Shows how ignorant ol bigman blo Mosbi like Pidik like to conduct themselves and surpress ol peles lain.
