The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office said it has located a pickup truck believed to have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Haslet early Thursday morning.

Walter Hopkins, 37, of Haslet, was fatally struck while jogging in the 13000 block of Willow Springs Road at about 5:45 a.m.

"He was jogging in the opposite lane so he could see what traffic was coming," sheriff's office spokesman Terry Grisham said.

Grisham said the driver crossed the center lane and hit Hopkins from behind.

The sheriff's office said the 2007 blue Ford Ranger believed to have struck Hopkins was found at a vehicle body repair shop in north Fort Worth.

The sheriff's department impounded the vehicle and is searching for the driver.

Grisham said the driver left the scene after hitting Hopkins.
