FORT WORTH A man who was reported missing after Saturday's Original Mud Run in Fort Worth has been found dead.
Police and a fire department dive team scoured the events course as soon as they arrived at the scene on Saturday, but they were initially unable to locate 30-year-old Tony Weathers.
The search was called off at dark, but resumed Sunday morning. Weathers' body was discovered just before 11 a.m. Authorities have not released the cause of death.
The Original Mud Run was held at LaGrave Field along the banks of the Trinity River and featured obstacles including "Hole to Hades," "Leap of Faith" and "Stairway to Heaven."
One of the activities along the two courses (3.1 miles and 6.2 miles) included a swim across the Trinity. The Original Mud Run Web site says it is not necessary to know how to swim in order to participate, "although it is recommended" and there are "guide ropes and lifeguards" in areas of water activities.
