Swimmers at Sam Bass Point near Boat Ramp Area Today

July 20 2012 at 10:36 AM

Does any one know who was swimming off of Sam Bass point this morning near the boat ramp? I was swimming with the DA group and this is the second time I have seen others swimmers from that area swimming way too far out from the shore and both times the swimmer(s) were not swimming in groups but alone without safety support. Both times the individuals were in a area of the lake that is used by morning fisherman.

If you know who these individuals who are swimming extremely far from shore, please tell them for their safety and to prevent an accident which will definitely lead to the city banning this type of training to STOP and either get escort support of a kayak or swim closer to shore. There is no reason to swim this far out from the shore.

It Was Me

You know this individual.

Barney there is a group of us that went from the dock to SBP and back at 6:20 this morning. I think I was the only one that swam to the the right of the DA furthest out bouy on the way back and was doing that as courtesy to the DA swimmers to not cross in front of them or swim against their direction. We usually have several that are swimming with safety floats as well but think there was only one of them today.

Next time will swim back to the DA close in bouy then follow around DA course. Will add some more distance to my swim but lord knows I need it.
