I can answer the questions about the exploder... That would be a power steering cooler. Helps to reduce the operating temp of the fluid, and keeps you from having to stick a pump in it...alot. You should be able to go to a Ford dealer and get it through the parts department. I've seen it once or twice before. I would flush new fluid through it too.
