  • the cold weather does ruin working on cars...

it's been real cold here on cape cod. Not common to have this many single digit nights here.

I'm thinking i'm just going to bite the bullet and put in a new flywheel. If the performance subaru STI flywheel fits and is 13 lb or better, i will probably stick with that, since it's somewhat mfg. acceptable. Might try a lighter pulley, since some people say it helps (though i fail to see how), but i dunno. Seems like a lot of money for not much weight reduction. Lots easier to install, though.

The problem is that i shift really fast. Not because i try to, but because i just do. Of course, i'm not adverse to a bit better acceleration, if thats what a lighter flywheel will get me.

Other than that, and perhaps a washable air filter, i probably won't do anything with the engine. New engines seem to be pretty damn well optimized from the factory - anything i can do to increase the power will have a negative impact on driveability or emissions.
