Rich people, aren't happier. That's one. In fact, they often are less content, because they've achieved what is supposed to make them "happy", the vision, the goal is reached, and still, they're lacking.
I believe many of us have fallen into that trap. If only. If only I could get a job. If only I could find love. If only I could get that new home, car, flat screen TV, lose that 50 pounds etc
I see this on some of the fitness shows we watch. People are on a mission to lose X pounds and get fit, and many have this view that everything will change when they do. It doesn't. You're still the same person with many of the same insecurities, minus a few pounds.
Living in the now. It's almost a definition of "happy". Not waiting for anything, nothing is required to "complete" me.
We are indundated with messages about the good life, from TV, magazines, billboards and radio. Our culture is one in which we are taught daily, that the acquisition of material goods, new gadgets etc is the way to happiness and fulfilment.
