I had to replace head bearings at approx 25Kmiles.Filtering through traffic became interesting as it felt like it wanted to go in a straight line all the time.Could not get bearings from M+P or MPS nor from Bearing Services Ltd so bought from dealer, not that expensive approx £50 for both including dust seal.

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was the head bearings but haven't done alot of miles and so doubted it. Thanks Jeff you have confirmed my fears.

I have a 98 C1 with only 9,000ish miles on it and already have stearing head bearing problems, however mine is a bit diffrent than your problem. My bike gets bumpy in excessivly high speed turns appx.< 130 mph., again ish, not to mention it caused me to bust me rear after setting a wheelie down @ 75 mph,(massive tank slapper). This will probably help, I have replaced the bearings once, but have to constantly tighten the head about once every 2 weeks

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Ben Phillips

If you are having to adjust your bearings every couple of weeks they are either not seated correctly in the headstock or you arn't securing them properly after adjustment. There is no way they should need doing that often, even landing crap wheelies (like mine!!)

I'm from the United States, as well is my 98 9R.... I have 78,000 miles on her clock... and I've gone through two sets of head bearings....... my first went out at 32,000 miles, with the second set at 61,000 miles...... I've had a HyperPro Steering Dampner put on since, and it seems to have helped in alleviating all the "head shaking" at hard accelerations, which can only help in putting such a strain on the bearings.......

also.... does anybody have the part numbers for these bearings???? I'd like to buy mine directly from a bearing distributer instead of going through the dealer, so I don't get bent over too much...... thanks....

Well I feel like there is a small gap at the center. But it was dead center though. Im thinking this is a lock going highspeed or this is a case of bearing problems?. you will feel it when you swing it left and right.

Thanks
