Hockey Calgary to Ban Checking in PeeWee. GTHL should too.

I know this will draw out all of the rednecks and haters, again, but it is good to see another large minor hockey association taking the issue of concussions seriously.
One of the key drivers was that their research showed that the majority of major concussions and injuries occurred in PeeWee when checking was introduced.
As there are substantial differences in kids sizes and development at this age, a ban on checking only makes sense.
You purists can keep checking in the game if you want, but the GTHL needs to wake up and provide an non-checking rep level alternative. They will lose players and the game will suffer if they don't.
We need to keep as many kids as possible playing hockey, and the way to maximize numbers is to provide a rep level non-checking alternative.
