Goals against average is a very poor metric that determines how well a goalie is perfoming - obviously this Whitby goalie parent doesn't quite understand the game. Whitby has very very good defence and their tiny weak goalies only get 5-10 shots per game...my dog would have an equal GGA if it played for Whitby

Oh we know hockey my friend, that's why we have low GA. It's a great indicator of successful TEAMS and programs. last I checked hockey is a team game and we're very happy with our goalies, some great kids.

There is no third round in AAA. Win 2 rounds in the ETA and you go to the Championship Tournament. Whitby is hosting as defending 2011 champs so they are there.

they are doing fine. AAA in first and making a nice run at the SS this weekend in Port Huron. AA won 2 tourneys and finished third in a strong loop. A won some tournies. Playoffs will be the final measure. Too say they are not doing well is ludicrous.

Bantam and up is ultra competitive hockey. Gone are the one or two loss seasons unless you have Stamkos and Del Zotto on the same MM team. This is the way it should be. Whitby is very competitive in all levels and with 2 "A" teams this is a testament to the depth at the 97 age group. Looking forward to a strong playoff run for all teams.

VERY sensitive Whitby parents that are delusional about their boys' skill & size level and uneducated in the game...lets just see where it ends up. Goalies and forward are VERY small. Defence are VERY tall and in my estimation the most skilled amongst D in all loops. Forwards are average skill (some good skaters but play soft). Goalies are small and dont get many shots because of the good D corp....again whitby parents, just an opinion which YOU don't agree with -except the parents of the D I bet

I am looking at the 97s as a group. Obviously the most talented forwards should be playing AAA. To say the entire group of 97 forwards is undersized and not skilled is ridiculous. As you work your way down the levels the forwards may get smaller and less skilled. Duh. However Whitby is very competitive at all levels which is a testament to the depth of the 97s.

Regarding the AAAs there are very few teams in the province that has the number of snipers that they have. They have 4-5 good scorers up front. Most teams would kill for that firepower.

Why become a 2nd liner and lose ice time? Don't you think scouts talk and question parents and coaches on why your leaving? Seen this too many times, the player ends up getting hurt. The grass isn't always greener on a winning team...

Yes - out of town (plays Center) to help address the soft forwards concern. AAA team will be much better next year with him and a couple of tougher, bigger players coming from AA to replace the small forwards, strong D will stay the same and with this addition (stronger up front on PowerPlay) - you could put a German Shephard in net with that team but changes in that position will only help too.

You are correct 11:33. My kid plays D on this team (shhhhh). The goalies are very weak and small and the D minimize this aspect but keeping shots to less than 10 per game. We have solid F's but most are small (like their daddy's on the bench). this change would make the team unbeatable.

1038, coaches from all the centers do this not just DB, Oshawa is probably the only center that doesn't partake in this practice as they pick their coaches so late and none of them have any real connections to hockey so no one to recruit. The GTHL does it whats the problem? If your kid is good enough it won't matter anyway.

i don't understand why people would risk this? If your that good, you can play in places like Huron Perth territory (Stratford to Owensound) and have someone drafted first round like the 96's did. Whitby 96's only had 1 first rounder, and the team was ranked in the top 20. The only logic is these kids coming in are just not that good and want to play on a winner, lose ice time they had on their crappy teams, and risk not getting drafted because of that. strange?

at least they'll get to the omha's and maybe get a nice medal as a consolation prize for not being drafted (or drafted late)
