Why would the AA teams release their "good" goalies in November, do you not think they have to worry about their own team? He should also replace 1-2 defence and 1-2 forwards also

Well they were bragging about making playoffs last year and how much the team improved eventhough they ended up 7th ( i think), they were walking around rinks like peacocks thinking their $hit did not smell and treating kids they had terrible and de committing at last minute. They said they would be top 4 team this year with what they had picked. I am sure they are misssing what they had and could have kept.KARMA is a bitch and so is GC.

Any AA team with a decent coach would release a player if he's able to move up in the system. That's how it works. A, feeds, AA and AA, feeds AAA

4:19 is dreaming. No way a good goalie in AA is getting a release. Only an idiot coach would do that. True, that statement covers many guys running teams but, even idiots rarely commit suicide.

we are 2 games into the season relax people all this means is the Sens are not in the same league as the Marlies but then again there are at least 9 aother teams in the same boat.
So if they win and are competitive with the other teams they will be okay and might surprise a lot of people. They did beat the Nats and the Titans only tied it will be a very competitive year for all teams.

Things better change after last nights performance, goalies are not great but forwards are etrocious, they can not score and even worse do not help on defence. This team will be lucky to make playoffs, GC what were you thinking picking some of these kids? Last yeats team was much better.

GC either selected sub par talent or doesn't know how to identify talent what so ever. You mean to tell me there was absolutely no other goalies, defense or forwards out there to consider...BS!!! Admit when you're wrong, correct your mistakes and move on. No one should be guaranteed a spot on any team. We're tired of the broken promises! Either put up or get out!

I agree with the posters above.
As difficult as it may be to remove players, I agree that no spot should ever be guaranteed. As unfortunate as it may be for a few players, it's not their fault, it's GC's. He's the only one to blame.
This is not time to be rebuilding, it's a time to be competative. Things need to be done and done now!

Re: 97 Sens Kaboom!

September 30 2011, 8:12 AM

This is where AAA teams should be affiliated with AA teams. This would allow for player movement within the age group vs. calling up from the younger class. If the Sens need a goalie, which is apparent, they should be able to get one to improve their position, and give that AA player a chance to show his stuff. So many players are stranded in AA simply because their is not system in place for them to showcase outside of their current level.

Re: 97 Sens Kaboom!

September 30 2011, 8:40 AM

From M Bantam on only. Establish a 5 card AP system with two AA teams since they have so many. Affiliate teams would be from the same area so player movement does not create travel issue for parents. Invite these AP's to practice with the AAA as time permits. Max games any play can AP is 5 giving all AP's a chance if the AAA is real short on live bodies. AP one goalie from each of the two affiliate teams. By Jan 1 a AAA can select one AP from each affiliate team for full time AAA play. No AAA player should be sent down unless the parents and player agree it would be best for the player and his development. If they choose to stay all cards are on the table and play will dictate ice time.

I am from the OMHA, teams do pick up from their AA team, but more often than not, they take a AAA kid from one year younger to play up when needed, so do not think your system will work. If your going to do it, the AAA team should be affiliated with maybe 1-2 teams in area so they can call up, but I am sure they would prefer a player playing AAA one year younger

Re: 97 Sens Kaboom!

September 30 2011, 8:56 AM

Taking from a younger cLass does nothing to solve a team problem long term. In nearly every class a player who plays up will drop to his age for his draft year. Any player who stay in the older group for an early draft must be given status to do do it. Not a great idea unless you're Traveris like. The same class AP system would allow coaches the opportunity to see more player at the AAA level during peak development years as they head toward the m midget draft.

Re: 97 Sens Kaboom!

September 30 2011, 8:58 AM

The team doesn't have a ton of skill. One of the 2 tenders is pretty good. However their game plan that basically involves intimidating other teams into submission is just not working. It's fine to finish your checks, but if there's no intention of getting the loose pucks that result and doing something constructive with said puck, then that strategy is useless. Just see what happened last night vs. the Rebels. The Rebels are by no means a super tough team, but they just kept skating, despite the hitting, and kept scoring.

Re: 97 Sens Kaboom!

October 4 2011, 1:34 PM

Sens have a decent coach who understands the game. You may not like him, but he knows hockey. Player selection is what hurt the club, or players have just not panned out like they thought. This happens at M Bantam to M Midget. Players grow, attitudes change, and their development is all over the place. The Sens have found themselves with couple for forwards that are way over their head as with a few defense. They are having trouble picking up the game side of hockey. Most can skate but having some hockey sense is a difference maker. Additionally, with all the 97 goal tending talent around these two selections are questionable before we even get into taking a 98. You must have decent goaltending to compete. Not perfect, but decent. Stop a few scoring chances and give your team some confidence. Sens can't seem to get this from the goalies.

Just a few recruiting mistakes that are really showing up early in the season. Maybe things will turn around for the boys and they'll end of squeezing into a playoff spot.

Defend? These are facts. Some bad player on the team. Why? Maybe they are not working out, maybe they did not come into this year a better player. The coach made a mistake on goal tending. Does GC know hockey? Sure he does. Will the team turn it around. Maybe a slim change, but maybe.

There's only one person to blame when players don't (as been indicated here) pan out...THE COACH!
Knowing the game of hockey is one thing, having the skills to identify players who can and will develope to add to a teams depth is completely different.
GC is the only one accountable. The kids are the ones who lose in the end!

Re: 97 Sens Kaboom!

October 4 2011, 2:37 PM

6 months from April to October is a lot of time. In many cases the player you see in April is not the player you see in October especially at this age. Both positive and negative things happen. To say its a little bit o a guess is fair. You pick and hope the player works out. Should GC take some blame? Im sure he feels some pressure but he does not have a crystal ball. Maybe if the league figured out that August tryouts just prior to the season starting would help with player selection we would have these issues.

brand new team next year. i'm hearing 11 or 12 changes??? little farquad out to every arena possible shaking hands / offering free rides etc. Prospects who originally said yes are now saying no or still stringing the little guy along or had no intention of actually coming over. and now he is scambling to fill in the gaps with players not asked back from other teams and eventually AA players??? will end up being a 5-8th place team ...again

Sorry you guys weren't asked back boys but everyone who is coming aboard is pretty happy with the way things look. Move on to your new teams guys, if you have one, because everyone in the new Sens group is excited about next year. BTW, making fun of GC's height or his job is getting a bit old. You are smarter than that. Come up with better material.

sens wills continue to be a mid pack team and will most likely drop with JRC and RW and possibily the Nats over taking them as each of those teams have picked up impact
players. from the skate on monday it appears gc is dipping deep into the AA pool which i know for fact didn't impress the coaches inner circle of parents

The little ex-Marlie G was decent, the bigger one not so much. But without those D in front, good luck! That's what got you into 5th, not your front end.

Re: 97 Sens Kaboom!

Hmmmm, Marlie goalie sees 10-15 shots against with 2-4 quality scoring chances per game wearing blue & white, and allows anywhere between 1-3 goals per game. Now he's seeing 25-35 shots against with 10-12 quality scoring chances wearing black & gold - I hope you're signing the next coming of 87 up front to fill the other net to compensate for the increased goals against.

Move on....you have a new team now. You should concentrate on that not last season. Sour grapes won't get you anywhere. GC great coach, lots of experience at MM level. If you don't think so, its not your problem as you are no longer on this team. Good luck next year wherever you ended up.

the sens improve every year and the next will be no different. two seasons ago this team was 11th with three points.they will be in the top three. the titans which finished ahead of them got alot weaker, vaughan is done so that leaves the rebels and the marlies.

Kind of agree with 12:14. But I wouldn't declare JRCs a power just yet. Looks like Marlies and Rebels at top then six teams that can beat each other any night. If MM and DMF improve maybe they can get in that mix too.

There isn't room for every team to be in the top, or even to make the playoffs. With VK's implosion, I think there might be room for either MM or DMF into the top 8, but not both. So which made the most improvement?
